Award Ceremony - March 2012
Well a lot has happened since I moved to Belfast. I became co-producer on 'The Music Box' which was amazing but a lot of hard work. I was also still choreographing the show but I had much more involvement in the overall production which was amazing. 'The Music Box' 2011 moved to The Theatre At The Mill, Newtownabbey and was an incredible success selling out completely! I am excited to announce that the show will be back again for 2012 with even more shows on the calendar.
January saw me choreographing a medley of 'The Producers' for a production of 'Magical Musical theatre' up again at The Theatre At The Mill - I'm becoming a regular! This was to help advertise this summers youth musical of 'The Producers' which I will be choreographing. Peter Corry will be directing along with Wilson Shields as musical director.
At the moment I'm working on the 2nd Making The Difference Awards in association with the Belfast telegraph. Last years award were a huge success with the award ceremony winning a gold award itself. As with last year the awards will be held at the Grand opera House, Belfast and the evening is in a variety style with live acts and awards. There will be lots of youth talent performing in this evening including our cast of 'Oklahoma!' from the summers youth musical production of whom I am very proud. The awards take place on March 23rd and seats are invitation only.
So, lots to be getting on with including getting my Friday Lyrical dance class up and running again. Keep an eye on the facebook page 'Fresh From London- Dance Classes' for up to date class info. Maybe see you there..
Summer Move - June 2011
So, It's been a long time since I've blogged. I've just been featured in the new Voyage Prive commercial which is a new travel club so keep an eye out for it on channel 4. I just did a few nice corporate jobs, one for Sainsburys with a 60's show and some gigs in Tuscany with my Ashanti Strings girls which was fantastic. I've also just finished a promotion for Benefit makeup for their New Cha Cha Tint which involved teaching Cha Cha to their customers in store.
In about 3 weeks I'm moving over to Belfast and it's straight into rehearsals for this years summer youth production of 'Oklahoma!' up at the Theatre At The Mill, I can't wait! You can see pictures from last year's production here
The Music Box - 25th October 2010
Well, good news, I booked the commercial so you'll be seeing me over christmas advertising Asda's range of affordable party dresses!
I've been busy, busy working on The Music Box particularly with ticket sales, which are going really well. I'm gearing up now for auditions which will be held this Saturday so good luck in advance to everyone whose attending xx
Autumn Plans - 12th October 2010
Wow, well it's been a while since I blogged, I have been crazy busy which is good! Les Mis went fantastically well, better than we could have hoped. It was the hot ticket and we were turning people away at the door. A complete sell out we are the best selling show at The Theatre At The Mill to date. A huge well done to everyone involved both onstage and behind the scenes.
Since Getting back from Les Mis I have been busy with lots of Bollywood Hen Parties and lots of hair modelling for L'oreal and Paul Mitchell. I'm just recently back from Niagara Falls in Canada where I went out for 10 days to perform in 'Spirit Of The Dance'. I haven't been in the show for nearly 5 years and with only 4 days rehearsal I had to try and drag it out of the back of my brain! It was a bit like boot camp, I'd forgotten how hard the show is but I'm feeling really fit after it all. The falls were absolutely stunning and I never got tired of them. I also managed to squeeze in a short holiday to New York which was brilliant but it rained a lot!
In the background of all this I've been working in pre-production for 3 other projects. The Music Box which had a fantastic first year in 2009 returns this christmas, bigger and better. Last year I was just choroegraphing but this year I've been promoted, I'm now Assistant Producer, Assistant Director and Choreographer. It's a big challenge but really exciting. I am also helping with a Dutch tour of a brand new show called 'Celtic Rhythms' which will be going out next year. More about that at a later date. Finally, I am also involved in the production of an awards show to be held in Belfast in the Grand Opera House which again is a new experience for me.
If that wasn't enough, I've taken it upon myself to start learning Cuban salsa and pole dancing because I really love learning new styles, it's all keeping me out of trouble! Well, that's quite enough for one blog, off to a recall for a commercial so maybe I'll have good news for next time.
Les Miserables preparations - 1st July 2010
Well, preparations for Les Mis are well underway. The auditions have been held and all the parts have been cast. Our Director, Peter Corry, has been raving about the standard so I'm very excited. We have a really short rehearsal time, only 2 weeks to put this together and with the whole musical being sung through its a lot to learn. Still, with such a strong creative team involving Wilson Shields (musical direcctor) and Clare Donnelly (stage manager) I know we can pull it off. To view more details about this production click here and go to the 'what's on' section. The Theatre at the Mill is a beautiful new theatre only opened this year and it really is worth visiting if anyone is in the Belfast area.
I'm back fresh from my holiday in Crete. It was great to have a break but now I'm back ready to get cracking again. I've got a lot on the go at the moment, hen parties, bollywood workshops and lots of bookings for Ashanti Strings. I'm also preparing for a youth workshop which will end with a weeks performances of a youth production of Les Miserables, I'm Assistant Director and Choreographer so I have a lot to do! Watch this space......
