Event Producer

Approached by The Mary Peters Trust & Gerry Kelly, working with Peter Corry Productions I worked on this this event as the co-producer alongside Peter Corry. We were engaged to come up with the smooth running of an existing idea to celebrate 40 years since Mary Peter won the gold medal in the Munich Olympics for the Triathlon. The trust wanted to thank Mary for all the hard work she has done and also to surprise her. We came up with the suggestion of a star studded 'This Is Your Life' presentation but that Mary would be unaware of this. She believed she was going to be an audience member at this celebratory event, she would in fact be the star of the night.

What transpired was a live interview chat show format hosted by Gerry Kelly at The Grand Opera House, Belfast. Guest interviewers included Paddy Kielty, Eammon Holmes & Dickie Davies. Additional guests were brought in to sit alongside Mary on the couch, sporting legends and past Olympic medal winners including:

Sir Steve Redgrave
Dame Kelly Holmes
Jackie Fullerton
Sue Barker
Duncan Goodhew
Adrian Moorhouse
Pat Jennings
Lynn Davies
Peter Chambers
Alan Campbell
Paddy Barnes
Michael Conlon
Dennis Taylor
Jayne Toville
Dickie Davies
Daley Thompson
David Hemery

Entertainment for the programme was provided by Dan Gordon, Phil Coulter, David Meade, Brian Kennedy, Barry Douglas, May McFettridge, Peter Corry, Adoro and topped off by a special performance by Van Morrisson

Our role was to run the entire event, rehearsals, logistics, sound, lights and overall event management. With a tight schedule the show got into the venue in the morning of the event day so there was management of a set build in addition to having to rehearse all the acts, guests and presenters in their roles for the evening's event. An hour before the event was due to begin, we were informed that Van Morrison's set needed to be brought forward and so had to quickly adapt to ensure the smooth running of the programme. His set was brought forward, all relevant script, cues and timings were juggled to make things work and happily the event went without a hitch.
